Allred Unit Release Paths

James V. Allred Unit belongs to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Correctional Institutions Division. It is not a Wichita County jail annex. TDCJ holds sentenced state prisoners there at several custody levels. A departure can mean release to parole, release to mandatory supervision, full discharge at sentence expiration, or a transfer to another state unit. Only the first three end confinement, and parole or mandatory supervision still carries legal oversight.

A location change from Allred to another TDCJ facility is continued imprisonment. Likewise, a favorable parole vote or a projected release date is not the physical release event. Some Board of Pardons and Paroles vote codes set a future date or require a program first. The statewide offender record and TDCJ release-status response supply the correct proof.

Confirm an Allred Unit Release

Start with the TDCJ offender search. A seven-digit TDCJ number or State Identification number gives the best match. Without one, search by last and first name, then use date of birth, gender, race, conviction county, court, and offense to avoid confusing people with similar names.

1. Enter the TDCJ number or SID when available.
2. Match identity, conviction, incarceration history, and current location.
3. Read the status, parole-review information, and Projected Release Date in context.
4. Distinguish a unit transfer from an actual release or discharge.
5. Use TDCJ email or telephone service if the public result is unclear.

Allred Release Record Fields

TDCJ public information may include the current location, conviction offense and county or court, incarceration history, parole-review material, and the exact field called Projected Release Date. A past state-prison record may also show release, discharge, or supervision information. Read each field as part of one state sentence history rather than as a county booking.

TDCJ offers a no-charge email information service. A request should include the full name and TDCJ number, or the exact date of birth, approximate age, and conviction county. TDCJ says that service does not furnish photographs or Social Security numbers. A formal Public Information Act request is the route for an existing record beyond the listed email fields.

Allred Unit Contact

The official TDCJ Allred directory is the source for current unit contact and operational details. The unit can address facility matters, but offender release verification should still use the statewide offender-information and release-status channels.

For location information, TDCJ lists 936-295-6371 and 800-535-0283. Before a parole vote, the listed status line is 844-512-0461. After a vote and for release status, TDCJ lists 512-406-5202 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. These channels answer different stages of the process, so state which stage needs confirmation.

Allred Unit Prison Profile

Allred opened in June 1995. TDCJ identifies it as a male prison with multiple custody levels and a capacity of 4,438. It sits northwest of Wichita Falls in Iowa Park. Those facts distinguish it from the county's central detention center, which holds local bookings under the Sheriff.

Wichita County's unusual overlap of a large state prison and a county jail makes system choice essential. A Wichita County conviction can create a TDCJ record even if the person was confined or released elsewhere. Conversely, residence at Allred does not turn the state record into a WCSO record. Search the custodian that actually controlled the person at the point in question.

Allred Release to Supervision

Parole is conditional release from prison before the full sentence expires. Mandatory supervision is a separate statutory release form that also places the person under TDCJ Parole Division oversight. Discharge means the sentence and any attached supervision have ended. These terms must not be swapped, because they produce different status and contact needs.

If the state record shows release to supervision in Wichita County, the local point is the Wichita Falls District Parole Office in Region V. Confirm the assigned office only after matching the TDCJ identity and release status. A supervision warrant or revocation process can later return a released person to custody.

Probation is different. Wichita County Community Supervision and Corrections handles court-imposed probation, often without any TDCJ prison term. An Allred release to parole should not be routed to county probation merely because both are forms of supervision.

Transfers Are Not Allred Releases

A person may disappear from Allred as the listed unit after reassignment, medical movement, a program placement, or another TDCJ transfer. Search the new location and the overall custody status. If TDCJ still lists the person in custody, the Allred departure did not release them into the community.

A county or federal hold can also affect the next step. When another agency takes custody, ask for the receiving agency and check that system. No single locator proves every later event. The release-status response, receiving record, and relevant court file should align.

Texas Release Status Channels

TDCJ's public search is the primary online source. Email and telephone channels fill gaps when the public display is ambiguous. A formal TDCJ records request can seek existing release and incarceration documents. Texas IVSS-Counties, which replaced legacy VINE in 2025, does not replace the statewide prison record and warns that no-longer-in-custody records may not remain visible.

Read Allred Release Results Carefully

A Wichita County conviction does not guarantee confinement at Allred, and confinement at Allred does not mean the conviction came from Wichita County. Match the court, offense, identifiers, and incarceration history before drawing a conclusion. A local jail transfer record closes only the county segment. The TDCJ record then controls the state segment. Later release to supervision should be confirmed through TDCJ before contacting the Wichita Falls parole office. This sequence keeps a unit move, a future Board approval, or an old county release from being mistaken for the current event. Save the date and source of each official response so later status changes can be recognized.

Verify Allred Release Status

A favorable Board vote must be read by its exact code and stage. TDCJ materials distinguish approvals that can involve a future date or required program from the actual release event. Initial parole review ordinarily involves individual file review rather than a public formal hearing. TDCJ identifies cases before eligibility, an Institutional Parole Officer prepares a summary, and a three-member panel votes in sequence. Two votes form a majority, but approval may still carry conditions and can be withdrawn if new information arises.

Before a vote, use the offender result and the listed status line at 844-512-0461. After the vote, use 512-406-5202 for the decision and release status. A denial notice can set a later review date. None of these dates should be converted into a personal forecast by applying a fixed percentage, because offense date, offense type, sentence, deadly-weapon findings, eligibility, good time, and Board action can change the legal calculation.

Once TDCJ confirms release from Allred to supervision, verify the assigned office. Wichita County maps to the Wichita Falls District Parole Office in Region V. A later supervision warrant or revocation proceeding can change the person's status and lead to renewed custody. TDCJ defines an absconder as a supervised person who stopped reporting and whose location is unknown, but its limited public lists are not a full roster of all parole warrants.

For documentary proof beyond the public display, request the existing TDCJ incarceration and release records. TDCJ accepts Public Information Act requests through its published channels, including its web form and mailing route. State the full name and identifiers, the Allred confinement period, and the precise release, discharge, transfer, or supervision record sought. This creates a clearer trail than asking staff to explain or calculate an outcome.
