Wichita County VINELink Replacement

Texas ended its legacy VINE service on September 1, 2025. Current county jail and court notification instructions lead to Texas IVSS-Counties. Wichita County is specifically listed in the Texas Attorney General's FY2026 SAVNS grantee material with jail and court participation. That confirms a local data and notification channel, but it does not make IVSS a complete archive of old release events.

The service can show current custody or supervision information supplied by a participating source and can support alerts for booking, release, court changes, death, escape, or transfer to TDCJ. Coverage depends on the contributing system. State-prison history and projected dates should be checked through TDCJ, while federal and immigration custody require their own locators.

This migration is why old VINELink instructions should not be followed as if the retired interface were still active.

Search Wichita County IVSS Records

Use an identifying number whenever possible. IVSS accepts a DOC ID, State Identification number, Jail ID, or permanent booking number. Full or partial names also work, and the interface suggests starting broadly with the first three letters of both first and last name. A broad search may return several people, so match the source and identifiers before reading status.

1. Open Texas IVSS-Counties and choose the person or offender search.
2. Select Wichita County when the interface asks for a participating county or source.
3. Enter the DOC ID, SID, Jail ID, or permanent booking number if known.
4. Otherwise enter a full or partial name, then narrow matches with the available identifiers.
5. Open the correct record and note its source, status, and displayed timestamp.
6. Verify a release through Odyssey/WCSO and the linked court record.

Names can vary by spelling, alias, suffix, and spacing. Recheck the date of birth, booking event, charge, and agency rather than choosing the first match. A Wichita County jail result does not describe a separate TDCJ sentence, and a court event does not by itself prove the person physically left custody.

Read the agency source with the result because each source answers only its own custody or court question.

What Wichita County IVSS Shows

IVSS is best treated as a status and alert channel. Its warning says people no longer in custody may not appear. Therefore “no result” is not a release field. The record must be interpreted by source and then checked against the originating jail, court, or correctional agency.

A transfer alert needs special care. Transfer to TDCJ ends the Wichita County jail segment but begins or continues state custody. A court event can change the legal basis for detention without showing the exact time jail staff complete release processing. Keep the booking number and request the jail release disposition when community release must be verified.

Set Wichita County Release Alerts

Texas materials say notifications can be requested with or without an account. Registration supports saved preferences when account creation is available. The form observed during research requested a county, email, password, security question and answer, alert channels, and time preferences. New-account creation was marked temporarily unavailable at that time, so current availability should be checked on the live form.

2. Select notification from the record, or sign in for saved preferences.
3. Choose supported email, SMS, telephone, or TTY options.
4. Set preferred and after-hours choices shown by the current interface.
5. Confirm the contact method exactly as the live service directs.

Use the live confirmation steps because account status and interface details can change.

Confirm Wichita County Release Status

IVSS silence cannot establish release. The person may have left the participating source, the spelling may differ, an update may lag, or the record may no longer appear. Search the WCSO Odyssey Jail Records booking and request the release record from Records/ID when the entry is absent. Match the cause number to the proper clerk's signed bond, dismissal, judgment, sentence, or release order.

When the WCSO disposition shows TDCJ transfer, use the TDCJ offender search. Check location, incarceration history, projected date, and actual release or discharge information. For USMS custody, use the federal docket and later the BOP locator when designated. For ICE, use the Online Detainee Locator and remember that it has stated current and recent-release limits.

Current release, projected release, parole eligibility, and court disposition are different facts. Keep each result tied to its source. The same person can also have an old released booking and a newer active custody event.

Old VINELink PIN Instructions

Legacy Texas VINE phone registrations used a four-digit PIN. During an automated call, the recipient entered that PIN followed by the pound key to acknowledge the message, and unanswered calls could repeat. Those steps belong only to the retired service.

No current IVSS source reviewed for Wichita County showed a PIN confirmation requirement. Legacy registrations were represented as transitioned, with a password update required on first login and existing phone or text alerts continuing under the new provider. Follow the present IVSS interface if it requests a new confirmation method.

Note: Instructions mentioning VINELink and a PIN may be historically accurate but are not current Texas setup directions.

IVSS Versus Texas Registries

The Texas sex-offender registry is separate from IVSS. It covers people with a continuing registration duty under Chapter 62 and may display a name, address, photograph, conviction offense, and verification details. It is not a list of all released Wichita County inmates.

An absent registry result does not show custody or release. It may mean no registration duty applies, a duty ended, or the search did not match. Likewise, IVSS is not the source for a federal inmate, and the ordinary county notification layer does not replace TDCJ's statewide prison record.

Release

The end of custody by a particular agency, sometimes into the community and sometimes into another legal status.

Transfer

A handoff to another facility or authority while custody continues.

Supervision

Parole, mandatory supervision, or court probation after or instead of confinement.

Notification

An alert about a reported event, not the underlying certified release record.

Wichita County Notification Evidence

An alert should start a verification check. Save the person identifier, event type, source agency, and event time shown in the message. Then locate the corresponding Wichita County booking. If the alert says release, look for the affirmative release date and disposition. If it says transfer, identify the receiving authority and continue the search in that authority's system.

The court file adds the legal reason. A bond order can support pretrial release, a judgment can support time served or sentence completion, and a commitment can explain a state transfer. Felony records are held by the District Clerk, misdemeanor records by the County Clerk, and fine-only city matters by municipal court. The county public-information form does not replace those court channels.

When online data conflicts, request the existing booking, release, and transfer documents from WCSO Records/ID. Give the full name, aliases, date of birth or booking number, and approximate dates. Specific record terms help staff locate the event without asking them to create an answer that is not already documented.

Choose the Wichita Release Source

IVSS participation does not merge every custody system into one record. For a Wichita County jail booking, use the alert to locate the matching Odyssey Jail Records entry and WCSO release disposition. For a transfer to TDCJ, search the statewide offender record by TDCJ number or SID and read the location, incarceration history, projected date, and actual release or supervision fields. A county transfer closes the local booking but does not end state confinement.

Federal paths are separate. USMS may hold a pretrial federal detainee in contracted space without offering a public individual locator. Use the federal docket and court or counsel channel until BOP designation, then use the BOP locator. A BOP result marked Released or Not in BOP Custody establishes only the end of BOP custody. ICE ODLS uses an A-number and country of birth or exact biographical information, and its stated current and recent-release limits do not turn a county jail alert into proof of community release.

Search dates and identifiers again when nothing appears. A wrong spelling, alias, delayed update, old record outside online retention, sealed or expunged material, suppression, or the wrong agency can all produce silence. The requested record must supply the missing event.

Wichita County IVSS alerts may cover booking, release, court changes, death, escape, or transfer to TDCJ through supported email, text, telephone, or TTY channels. Save the source and event time, then compare them with the agency record. An alert reports a change; it is not a certified release document and does not establish what a later custodian did.
